OT: Binaural Beats.

You might need to read this article first.
Anyone played around with these?
I only heard of them because of some beatup in the media under the heading "Kids downloading drugs over the Internet".
Could be 'interesting' to sneak such tones into a movie soundtrack, seems they still work if mixed with other sounds and can be at a low volume.

If you can stomach watching a media beatup:

Wait till the media finds out about Acid :)

3D glasses AND Binaural Beats....
I think there will be an alternative use of the popcorn bag.

In order for binaural sound to work, discrete tones must be submitted to each ear independently. So...headphones are required. Just listening over speakers doesn't work.

Yes, that's going to be a problem I need to work on.

Sounds like a lot of noise over nothing.

I'm not going to say they have a valid concern about people becoming sound junkies. Binaural sound has been used for a long time to calm people, put them to sleep, energize them and other therapeutic uses. It works on the phenomenon of brainwave entrainment. It is safe in the hands of a qualified practitioner, but not something I would want my kids or grandkids to be playing around with unsupervised. And, I would not want anyone to be driving while listening to binaural sound. It they hit certain brainwave frequencies they can fall asleep.

I've been creating and using these on myself for a few years. Excellent for sleep, calm, and dreaming. I'd be interested to know what exact Hz the "drug" versions are using. My guess is some of these are simply provoking anxiety reactions (plus a good dose of placebo)

Don't much care about the digital drug thing...silly.

But now I want to dig out my Lou Reed "The Bells" album that was done in Stereo Binaural Sound.

I think some of my "Jane" albums were done with the dummy head, too. I'll have to check.
