Good stuff indeed. In fact, several of the systems Sony has provided for VASST to use on tours have been BOXX systems. We had one go down due to a hotel caterer knocking the boxx over, it broke the connections of everything on the back. BOXX was immediate in taking care of it. They run fast, and are well configured.

Didn't they provide a pre-configured Vegas system at one time (about two years ago)? If so, do they still provide such a service?

I think they do...but there are so many options to choose from when configuring the computer....and I have no idea what half of the available hardware is...or what is best to use.

You can still buy a computer with Vegas installed from Boxx. However, this is not readily apparent. The most obvious option for video software from Boxx is Premiere Pro. I think Boxx has a deal with Adobe.

For Vegas you have to choose from Additional Software Bundles or Software> Video editing applications.

Boxx has a pretty good deal on the "Sonic Foundry Bundle" Vegas 5, Acid Pro 4 and Sound Forge 7.0 will cost $700. Not a bad deal if you need software or you are buying an extra machine for a studio.

I used the Boxx configuration in the catalog a few years ago to build my workstation, and saved a couple of hundred. Take the list and price the components at NewEgg or somewhere, and then go to a retail like Fry's or Comp USA. Do you need a hi-end graphics card, or not, Vegas doesn't, you may save some money there. Also, you are paying about $1 a gig for storage, you can do better than that locally. There is no Audio card listed, so that would be additional $.
Another source is Alienware to find prebuilt boxes. There are others. Pick up 'Maximum' Pc mag has a number of companies listed. Good luck, and remember to think outside the Boxx. John
