Back in the 1960s, when I worked as a studio floor manager, cameraman and director, we used a Bretz Box for planning purposes to simulate the view provided by various focal length lens on the cameras.
We made these out of heavy card stock -- a cube with holes in each face -- and while I can remember clearly what they looked like, I have no idea of the relationship between the dimensions of the holes and how these correspond to lens length, and I can't find any place on the web where this information is to be found.
I've inherited a 16mm Bolex with a three lens turret and just for fun I'd like to resurrect Rudy Bretz's aid to scout some locations and try my hand at film.
Anyone have an idea how to build the box?
Jack
