OT: But maybe a useful note . . .

In my attempt to keep my N.K.. mob-phone uptodate, and in a weak moment, I decided to download and install said updating software. Fool!

I was about to run off and get a replacement pc . . . I couldn't do anything and my INTERNET pc was reduced to crawling its way through the WWW and was eventually brought to its knees. . . I found the program, went into ADD/Remove and zapped the blighter.

"Honey I'm Home!" - I'm back to make havoc . . What's been happening?

Moral of story? Well, you've got it . . . .

That's wierd.
I've run the updater for my pretty basic phone (the kind that makes phone calls) without any drama.

I wonder if somehow you managed to convince Windows to use the phone for your network connection(s). I can do that with my phone i.e. use it as a USB modem and doing that could perhaps slow things to a crawl and probably get me a hefty bill from my carrier.

The other possibility is that what you installed was trying to sync to the phone. If it couldn't find it sitting on a USB port maybe it just kept trying and trying.

Sorry not really much help I know. Most phones now (even my basic one) have some form of support via a forum. Whatever problem you've had I doubt you're alone.

Bob.

Sure, I understand about the phone><modem thingy - but this WAS updating s/w? It was installed to allow for updating. Hey, me being MrIT here, and I'll lift my paw if I did it wrong, but as I say, it was updating software to allow for me updates to be patched through to my phone. I wasn't asked to set up my phone as sync modem what-not.

Horrid . . . .

But thanks Bob,
