It is called One, two, three and has been done by Al Stewart and many more. Written by John Madora/David White/Leonard Borisoff
Not rock and roll.

1-2-3, oh, that's how elementary it's gonna be
C'mon, let's fall in love, it's easy (it's so easy)
Like takin' candy (like takin' candy) from a baby

Its Len Barry.

Len Barry "123" the year was 1965.

Len used to be with the Dovells in the early 60's (Dovells of - "The Bristol Stomp" fame).

Used to be a staple oldie at a CHR station I worked for in the late 60s - early 70s.

I'm sorry, my music education began with the Beatle's White Album.

The White Album was a good place to start.

Every once in a while a tune from my past will pop into my head. Many times I remember the artist and title, and some times I don't. Today was one of those times!

Thanks guys!

The thing I remember about 1-2-3 was there was this killer brass section in the recording--they were dynamite!

And yes, I do remember The Dovells.

Geez... I am getting old!

Im only 35 but Im entirely fascinated with groups from the 50s and 60s. Guys like Frankie Valli and Lou Christie crooned their way into millions of hearts that would make young girls scream and cry so hard that it would riva that of what the Beatles and Michael Jackson used to do.

I have always wanted to go back in time to that day in age. Where innocence was really innocence and times were so much more simpler. Not to mention the most awesome cars of the century.

Actually, "Leonard Borisoff" was the birth name of Len Barry.

Yes, it was rock and roll... "Philly Soul" to be specific.

Bristol Stomp was awesome.

How about this oldie: Randy and The Rainbows "Deniese"?

"Oh, Denise, dooby doo
I'm in love with you
Denise, dooby doo
I'm in love with you
Denise, dooby doo
I'm in love with you"

Hip-Hop it ain't!

I always thought it was Denise scooby doo. I think thats why I loved it when I was a kid. I always thought it was about Denise and Scooby Doo until I got older.
plasmavideo wrote on 4/10/2007, 9:03 AM
Sure sounds like Scooby Doo when you hear it

Okay, since we've taken this pleasant detour down memory lane for a few moments, anybody remember a song called, "Beep Beep?" It was about a Nash Rambler, which for you young whippersnappers was a car not much bigger than a MiniCooper that lived on the Earth back in the 1950's.

Song here.

Lyrics here.

Note: Hang in there. The song gets faster.

Jay Gladwell wrote on 4/10/2007, 10:12 AM

Yes, I remember that one very well, actually.

Here's a picture of one.

Heck, I'm old enough to have played 78s as a kid. Still have most of them.

Beep, Beep was a great novelty song, with a really fun ending which, even after you've heard it a hundred times, is still cute.

I used to love novelty songs. One of my favorite -- and I own the 45 -- was called "The Touchables," loosely based on the TV show with Robert Stack called "The Untouchables" (later made into movie starring Kevin Costner). What was neat about this record is that is used little snippets of various songs to tell a story. Can you imagine trying to get copyright clearance to do something like this now?
