Don't know if Grazie lives around London, but those who are, are taxed for the privilege of having the Olympic games thrust upon them.

These are games that are supposed to benefit the whole of the UK, so why are only Londoners being taxed?

Here in the UK, due to government ineptitude and interference, we are CRAP at everything.

Everything Grazie says in other posts is right.

Don't know if Grazie lives around London,

Yup! About 27 mins from Buckingham Palace.

But Worly, you can always rent out a room or a parking space to one of the folks who will be visiting. Don't forget the pleasures of having your favorite restaurants inundated by attendees and the joy of price escalation.....

You will directly benefit in ways you are too narrow minded to appreciate. Therefore you should be happy to pay your share.

BTW, the Official Logo is really jarring IMHO....

Yes Grazie lives in London all right, but when I told him they'd put their Olympics right in Ramadan he lost interest in it ... nah, I'm joking. And very badly, too.
Grazie is great - that's where his handle comes from: Greatsie you might call him.

Graham I'm looking forward to having a few beers with you in October.

"having a few beers with you " ---- not very English for only a few, unless you are using the Scottish version meaning more than >20 or kissing mother earth( for all the green peace folks reading these posts) ...... :-)

What can I say - I've only ever had a few beers with Grazie that I can remember.

...rent out a room or a parking space...

Now if the games were at Crystal Palace, I could do that. And if Biggin Hill Airport is developed to allow more commercial flights, that would be a real boon (I'm not under the flight path).

...Don't forget the pleasures of having your favorite restaurants inundated...

Restaurant? I've not eaten out for years. Kids come first. Besides, the choice of restaurants is Italian, Italian, Italian, Italian, or Italian.

...You will directly benefit in ways you are too narrow minded to appreciate...

I'd love to know what these are. Let's see... higher Council Tax to pay for the Games, increased congestion, increased housing density, increased facilities in the East End of London for those who enjoy sports, Increased tax to pay for the upkeep of the buildings when the games have finished...

I can see no benefits for my family. The 11 billion pounds being wasted on this 10 day event would be better spent by directing it at those who really need it. Not just a handful of sportsmen and women.

...BTW, the Official Logo is really jarring IMHO...
Yep.
