Wouldn't have posted it here, but there was a guy that seemed to have some usefull advice thought he might be able to help again (or someone else may know too).

I integrated the XP SP2 service pack and still it doesn't seem to see it, I haven't got floppy and it won't allow me to use a jumpdrive to do it. any other suggestions on how i can get SATA HDD recognized during install.

There should be a driver available from the laptop manufacturer, unless it is very old. Then when windows pop up with the 'press F? to instlal 3rd party driver', you install that driver. At least I think that would work, haven't ever had to do it on any of my systems, but my brother-in-law does.

P.S. What are the laptop specs?

yea, that was where the floppy drive came in. I managed to borrow a floppy Drive (USB) and a floppy and I was able to get the SATA HDD recognized and installed.

It's an HP DV9000 Custom jobby with a 100Gig 7200 RPM HD, 1 Gig Ram, 1650x1080 screen, 256MB GeForce G0 7600 Vid card, Lightscribe DVD Drive, 1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo Proc.

Anyway, yea, i got it figured out.
