I use a firewire card from WiebeTech in my Windows laptop.

Now that you mention it, Edward, there is a socket that appears to be a firewire connection, but I'm not certain (it isn't my laptop). Just to the right of it is a symbol that looks sort'a like an "i" with a leg and next to that "S400".

Guess I should check the device manager, huh?

Hi Jay -
You don't need a "card" to capture digital video - it's just a file transfer. Many laptops have firewire - and many others don't. By and large most use the 4 pin firewire connection. It's exactly the same as the one in your camera.

My new laptop doesn't have a firewire port. I picked up a pcmcia card at NewEgg for $4.99 and $3 shipping. It arrived in 2 days and it works perfectly. It's got two 6-pin ports on it. No drivers to install. Just slide it in and it works.
