I went to make dubs today of an HDCAM project and instead of doing an SD downconversion I figured I would just run it into my Sony FX1 and record it in HDV. To my suprise, it doesn't seem possible. we had to run the HDCAM through a DVCPRO HD deck to get a composite out. I thought that the Composite HD out on the FX1 would also work as an input. It seems that this is not a feature it handles. Nore does it take the Fire wire in from the DVCPRO HD deck. In the end we went SD on a DVCAM deck. I would think that it would be possible to input HD to the HDV format. Am I missing something? it also seems that the HDV deck has the same problems. Before anyone asks, I am doing the project in SD but wanted the highest possible quality to work from without having to use an expensive card. HDV seemd like a good option but doesn't seem possible. Any ideas would be apreciated.
