OT: CBS's Rockstar Broadcast Format

I know this is off topic but I know there are some real gurus here.

For the past few weeks the "look" of the broadcast changed when SuperNova performed. The video almost took on a film look to it. It looked normal during the rest of the broadcast when the contestants were performing with the house band.

I also remember this happening during previous MTV award shows.

I'm kind of curious about how they do this and why.

I became sick from the fast zooms from the cameras on jibs so
I turned it off. It might be in their contract.

They shoot the main band in 24P...

See how much higher budget it looks...

After doing a lot of research I started to get it was 24P.

I was the only one who noticed it in my house. I suppose the producers are expecting most people to be subliminally tricked into thinking the main band had real star power. personally I found the effect jarring.

I see that Vegas has a way to render to 24P. I just have studio so I guess I can't play :(
