OT: CES

The Consumer Electronics Show...heavy emphasis on Consumer.
The Sony booth at North 109, is MONSTROUS!! Moreover, they had to regulate the number of people going into the booth, and there were HUGE lines there today.
Vegas wasn't being officially shown because it's not a consumer product. Sony's broadcast tools aren't there either, just as you'd expect. Not a PD series camera to be spied anywhere. However, in the time I was standing in the booth, it was surprising how many people were asking about Vegas. Especially press people. Movie Studio was getting tons of inquiries, and so was Acid 4.0. Very cool to see that response. I didn't see any manufacturer there with a line to get in to the booth/rooms like Sony did.
BTW, after seeing the XBox demo cars, I think I'm gonna take up street racing. I've always wanted to have a playstation while I was driving. These cars are right outta tha movies! TV monitors in the dash, steering wheel, and side windows so folks driving next to you can see what you are watching. 4 15" subs in the back of a Neon, subshaker seats, 6" door speaks, 4" dash speaks, 5K watts of power with 8 capacitors for stability, translucent rear floor so you could see the sexy, lit wiring. Only thing I couldn't see was the NO2 cylinders.

Just caught a little bit of it on the Fox 11 news. Question - is Sony pushing, or demoing, their HD DVD Blu laser? I was hearing that the DVD format 'wars' would be a hot topic at this years CES.

Pushing and demoing. The Demo screens for it are right across from the Movie Studio/Acid 4.0 demo screens. (MS/Acid have 2, Blu has 4)
They keep the demos on it going non-stop, and it was interesting to me, as I knew OF the product, but knew little about what it brings to the table. Of course, now my knowledge is a little one sided since I've only heard the Sony spiel, but I'm impressed at this point. What else was interesting is that in the Silver Lodge, which is Las Vegas-speak for "a big white tent in the middle of the parking lot" Verbatim was also showing Blu in conjunction w/Sony. I only saw a little of their stuff, and only because I got lost looking for Sony's main booth.
