Since there are some Sony users around here, I thought I'd see if anyone knows anything about a problem I have.
I bought a little CF memory card reader that plugs into a USB port. It is made by SIIG. I wanted to use it as a sort of super floppy for moving files or to read jpgs from my digital camera.
I have several PCs and it works fine in all of them except one - A Sony V505 Vaio. In that PC it mostly does nothing, but sometimes I get a message that USB hardware device is unknown and recovery steps tell me nothing.
I happened to have a CF to PCMCIA adapter and tried that in the V505. That works fine.
The V505 is running XP Pro and the other machines are either XP Home or Win2K.
Searches haven't found anything that seems to help. Does anyone here happen to have any ideas why the V505 can't handle this USB device?
