Like a number of other people here I've used
Cineform for years, e.g. to stabilize footage in other applications, but always felt thrown in at the deep end when it came to what settings to use. I've just discovered the worth of Cineform's

Incidentally I have
Mercalli which works well as a Vegas plug-in but it doesn't like my 720p50 XDCAM-EX footage/projects (it has no applicable codec setting), nor my (frequent) tendency to pan/crop within hi-rez frames. In any case different stabilizing apps seem better at different sorts of shot.
