OT: Commercials with Generated White Media...

I have basic cable- 12 channels that comes with my internet service. All of it is ran through fiber optics. Once it gets to my house, the fiber is ran into a conversion box to convert it to ethernet and coaxial.

Now, with that being said, when watching commercials that have a lot of white in them or generated media, the sound is grossly distorted and the but the picture is clear. Could this have anything to do with the white levels not being within broadcast range?
Just curious,

The NTSC analog signal can easily produce distorted (buzz) audio if the white luma is overdriven. Is there an amplifier anywhere after the converter boxes?

Your cable company clearly is obligated to fix this if it comes out of their converter boxes like this.

Illegal colors will cause noise.

Does this happen on all commericals with white in them? Or only local commercials? Does it happen with National Advertisers from big companies?

There is no amp or booster but there is a female to female extender in the cable.

This usually happens on ALL local channel commercials but also, rarely mind you, happen on national commercials.

I just wanted to know what to say before I called up the cable company. I have asked a few other people about it, but they don't really know what I am talking about.

OH YEA - I was using a crappy switcher box (think I got it from gamestop or something like that for 20 bux and it switched 5 sources and did RF conversion). That would buzz like crazy when there was illegal whites showing - it would go bad on credits all the time. There would be the end of a movie on tv or something and that hunk of junk made it nearly unbearable - got rid of it and things were fine. I'd say that it's probably either a problem with the f2f connector or them. and more than likey... them.
