OT: Conquering the elements at 1,000 fps

Very cool "making of" a spot for the Kung Fu HD channel.

Shot with a Phantom camera at 1,000 fps. Nothing like it...

High speed is coming in a big way, because it is fun, not just instructive or for research.

I have to believe the RED folks will crank up their putt-putt 150 fps camera to take the next step... :O)

As one might imagine, storage becomes a problem after a few seconds of HD...

Red is not competing in this market are they?...

Depends on what you mean by "this market."

Do you mean storage or high speed cameras?

If high speed cameras, they are currently offering 150 fps as I mentioned, but they are not yet competing with the Phantom HD camera that was originally designed for scientific research, but has recently seen widespread use for TV commercials.

Red was orginally designed for independent producers & such.. high quality short films & doc's as an example, not as a high frame acquisition cam.
