Too bad but even some movies here in the USA don't play well
because of purposely messed up data tracks to "stop" the DVD
copiers.

Everyone is so excited about HD but will there be a major change
in copy protection? Will we be able to play existing SD DVDs on the
new players? Will the small guy be able to put copy protection on our
work? (replication not so much duplication)

to be honest, i dont see why they bother..

if theyre charge less for movies and remove the protection, people wont need to steal them...

pretty simple equation..
protection will only slow people down, it wont ever stop them...

as for HD blah blah.. well thy reveresed engineered almost every piece of kit on the market to date, so i dont see them stopping with HD DVD or whatever..

already theres a chip being made for the XBox 360 FFS.... soon theyll be able to play copied xbox 360 games...

like i said, i dont know why they bother..
