OT- Corrupt Jpeg File?

Just trying to help a photographer here..
She shot a few pictures of grandma & grandpa on a digital camera.

Not sure what all happened from here.. but basically she burned them to CD disc then deleted them off her harddrive.

Thinking the disc burn was unsuccesful - she can't recall if she got an error message after burn or not??.. oh well....

half the pictures (jpeg format) on disc 'work' but the other half (end half) i get a "unsupported format" error when trying to open them.

they are in jpeg format - file size looks correct (same size ~2megs as other photos on disc that can open)

any program or magic wand out there that could fix a corrupted jpeg file out there??

thanks

Any corruption is probably caused by the burning process, not the JPEGs themselves. Thus, you would want to look at software designed to recover bad CDs.

First thing to try is put the CD in several other CD-ROM drives and try to read the JPEGs.

Second is to see if they will copy back to the hard disk. If so, what file size is reported? If the file size, once transferred to disk, is far smaller than the other JPEGs from the same source, then you probably are out of luck.

You might also look to see if the burn session is "closed." Easy CD Creator and Nero both have menu options that let you close an interrupted session. Use the help system in your CD creation software and look for "session" and "close". If the session is not closed properly, some files might not read correctly.
