Unfortunately, Sony did not include a microphone input, plus they changed the shoe mount to a newer smaller one that won't work with any type of existing shoe mount device - lights, mic holders, etc. It's possible that they may have an external microphone you will be able to add, using their newer smaller shoe (if it's an intelligent one like some of the Canons, that is), or a plug-in box where you can plug in an XLR mic, but all that remains to be seen.
