I also have an HP K-60 all in one FAX, scanner, color printer...I do have to say it has worked very well, for many years; and it doesn't use up too much ink...I use it for normal everyday type letters and stuff...And, although not an inkjet, I also have an HP laserjet 5 that I've been running on it's original toner cartridge for 5 years! I bought an extra cartridge when I bought the printer, and it's still sitting there! Over the years, we've printed thousands of pages with nary a hitch, so all in all, I would have to say HP printers are OK.

edited for spelling...

I'm another Epson 200 user and have been using it since they came out. I print hundreds of disks and photos on one set if cartridges. After about a year I did have to play with the tray to make sure it was set right. I bought a new tray from a different company and have had no problems since. I have used some off brand inks with no problems. I think mine was an early model without the chip.
Can't comment on the newer models as I haven't used they yet.
For you guys still using the R200 and having problems with the tray, there was talk on some of the other board some time ago about a fix. I don't remember all the details, but it had something to do with a piece of electricla tape along the front edge of the tray, so the rollers would get a better hold of it. I didn't try it since I got the new tray, but they said it worked.
