I've been thinking about buying a disk recorder for shooting and then connecting it to my computer for editing. Whats is the skinny on what's out there. Personal experience? What works, what won't. ADS, sony, etc.
TIA

I've had a bit of a play with the Firestore stuff, seems to work OK.
I built a power supply for it so it would run off 12V batteries, pretty pointless being tied to mains power.
One problem I seem to recall is having to format the drives as FAT32, it'll record as much videoas will fit on the drive but broken up into 4GB files. Not a big drama if that is the case, just stich them back togther again in VV.
I'm still a bit nervous about having everything just on a HD though, big use I see for this stuff is being able to record to tape and the HD, if all goes well then you can edit straight from the HD without capturing, worst case you've got it on tape anyways or if the tape screws up, well its on HD!
