Literally took my unused in a couple a years Xl1 off the wall of our edit studio,, cleaned the lenses and dusted it off and used it for a 4 :3 video shoot this afternoon. Man, I miss that thing,, seemingly built like a truck compared to the hdv cams i been using the last couple a years,, and the lens,, well , let me just say it was fun, looks pretty darn good too.
Damn i'm gettin old

I can empathize with you on this one.

I actually got to use (and bill) for my old Canon GL-1 as a second camera on an educational shoot awhile back. I think I ended up billing more than what the camera goes for on ebay lately.

Each camera I have either used or owned had features I really liked.
Some were really heavy and you had to use a separate deck that also was heavy.
Some had lenses that could focus on a gnat a block away.

I do miss owning a camera with a real lens. I love having a focus ring and real iris
control.

We get to rent a F350 on occasion and my wife thinks I am in love with it as I hug it
so much! (It's the only way to carry one)

Just like cars we have our favorites. You aren't getting old.....
