Not to start a flame war, But i have a friend who wants to purchase a DVD trainging course for Vegas 5. He wants to spend around $100. Well that leaves 2 choices.
Gary Kleiner's "The Vegas 5 Companion" or
Vasst's "Vegas 5 series vol 1 and 2"
I dont have either so cant make a judgment. My friend undestands editing but wants to know and learn the power of vegas along with general editing techniques.
Sorry Spot and Gary.

I have Gary's set and I have to say that it is nothing short of amazing for either an absolute beginner or a seasoned pro. 5 DVD set covers a lot. I dont have Spot's set so unfortunately, I cant comment on his.

I have Spot's version 4 set and it is amazing, as is his most recent book. Truth be told, either set is probably fine. I haven't seen Gary's. It would be nice to hear from someone who has seen both to compare and contrast the two.

I would tell your friend to try to up his/her budget. My experience with their stuff is that there isn't as much crossover as you would think and both give unique ways to do things.

agree re up the budget, both are must-get resources and very inexpensive.. I've made thousands in revenue in a few short months based on the tips I've gotten on how to optimize/use vegas workflow from both Spot and Gary's DVD sets..

Have Spot's V4 DVD and just purchased Gary's. Both are acknowledged Vegas gurus. Will give feedback on Gary's DVD after I get it, here on this thread.
