OT: encoding RED footage

If anyone else worked with RED footage before... Is there a more efficient workflow to edit the footage? I have bunch of clips that i bring into REDCINE. From there without touching any settings i output a Targa sequence. The only issue is that it takes me 4 hours to output 4 min clip.... Anyone knows a better way?

Vegas 9 appears to handle the native R3D files. I've only tried it with one sample clip I downloaded and it does appear to work. There's some minor gremlin in how the output looks compared to coming out of REDCINE but that's easily adjusted out in the controls that V9 offers.

Regardless keep in mind that with that many pixels and because you are doing a debayer etc processing does take a lot of time.

Resist the temptation to use the 2K proxies unless you use them for only their intended purpose. I've had more than one call for help after the less bright amongst us used them and threw away the camera original files and then wanted to make the proxies look better <sigh>.
