OT: "Extra" camera

I have a Sony PD 170 but would like to add another camera in the $1500 - $2000 range that's better than average in good in low-light situations.

Does anyone have personal experience with a camera like this they would recommend?

You can probably find good PD-150's in that range. I have one that I could be talked out of owning.

In that price I would look at the Sony A1 HDV camera. Shoot it in DV mode, and you're ready for HDV when you make the switch.

In a word, no. You may come close to getting a new VX2100 for that price, but why wouldn't you take advantage of getting a decent used camera for several hundred dollars less? With so many people switching to HD, there are some real steals out there on SD cameras (like my own VX2000, or the PD150 mentioned above).
