OT: fav movie "glitches"

In light of all the people saying Vegas and DV sucks, I thought it would be fun to point out vidual/production errors in movies. :) Kind of for fun, kind of to show that hollywood shouldn't worry about DV shortcummings and should instead worry about their slipups!
Just a few "rules" to follow: Plot errors don't count (ie why would someone do that). Errors with sequals doesn't count (ie star trek movies), and if the visual error can be reasonably explained, then it shouldn't be said (ie in jimmy neutron when jimmy shows the picture of his parents to the yokem king, he points to them in a different order then he says. He wasn't looking at the picture so he could of made the mistake). Here's 2 movies that I saw some goofups in:

Jimmy Neurton Boy Genius: When Carol is riding the lamma down "main street," he doesn't have a shadow (but the lamma does!).
Also durring Jimmy Neurton, after jimmy crashes into the chimny of his house, one of the shots with jimmy and goddard in the view, a dark circle appears on goddard's face for 1 frame. :)

Showtime (with eddie murphy): Durring the scene when eddie murphy is trying out for the acting job (of being a copy), when the camera changes so does his gun vest (each shot alternates between there being a gun vest and no gun vest)

I could name hundreds of glitches in the original Star Trek series, but i'd be cheating since i've already read "The Nitpickers Guide to Classic Trek" ;)

One of my favorites is in the movie "One Crazy Summer", which is also one of my favorite movies. There's a scene in which they're sitting on a boat and the lead guy is being given a viking helmet. We see him put it on his head with the horns pointing forwards. There's a shot of someone else, then we see it on his head with the horns pointing backwards. Then there's another shot of someone else, and from there on out we see the horns pointing forwards again. Oops.

You kidding? That project would fill volumes, after all, we're only human. And its nothing new. Many of the classics are loaded with "mistakes".

Were you paying attention when for example in Gone with the wind there is a scene where some lady picks up a lamp...it has a cord. During the Civil War? I don't think so. LOL!

Near the end outside Alanta one of the "dead bodies" gets stepped on. Ouch.

Little things... like lights off, then on, shadow on the wrong side, changes in the location of props are very common... if you look closely.

Too many to list. This topic could definately fill volumes.

I had always toyed around with trying to get a job as a continuity director. There are little things in scences that people just "forget" when they are doing it or editing that just slip by. Unfortunately....if it is caught in editing and there isn't other footage to use - methinks they just leave it hoping it won't get caught.

So I'm watching The Matrix yesterday (the first one) - and one of the mishaps I noted was when Morpheous meets Neo. Morpheous' arms are behind his back and he reaches out his right arm to shake Neo's hand...keeping his left arm behind his back.

Then the scence jumps to Neo's perspective in the handshake and Morpheous' left arm is by his side.

Then the scence jumps back to Morpheous' perspective and his arm is back behind his back.

And this one was soooooo subtle: In JFK - near the end when Costner is doing his 30 minute monologue about the assassination (back...and to the left. Back...and to the left).

Anyway...midway through his speech one of his co-workers (I forget who the character is) walks in the courtroom door. He is wearing a white suite. Then, later, when the camera pans around the court room you see him wearing a dark colored suit. Then later, by movie magic, he is back in his original suite again.

Love stuff like that!!

Of course, my favorite, and it is done on purpose is all the references to "See You Next Wednesday" for John Landis flicks. It's in most (if not all) of them.

My favorite glitch is in Die Hard 2:Die Harder. The movie is supposedly set in Dulles International Airport located near Washington, DC. However, the airport looks nothing like actual Dulles which is quite distinctive architecturally (see: http://www.metwashairports.com/Dulles/images/iadmorning.jpg)

Also:

* The phones in the airport have Pacific Bell logos on them rather than the Bell Atlantic logos which would be appropriate for the time and place.

* A big deal is made about how the "planes will splash into the Potomac" because they can't land at Dulles. This movie ignores DC's other major airport, (Reagan) National Airport, conveniently located right next to the Potmac river. One would think they would try to land there before crashing into the Potmac. (And that is totally ignoring military airports like Andrews AFB).

* The fact that a residential area is located right next to the airport. Dulles is surrounded on all sides by highways. The area around Dulles is mostly commerical.

Maybe this bothers me because I live near Dulles (no, not right next to Dulles - duh!). Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, especially the part where they have a machine that crushes luggage and terrorists. This is the answer to why my suitcase looks like it was stomped by an 800 pound gorilla.

IIRC wasn't an entire scene in Lawrence of Arabia printed back to front?
