but what about burners? with all this chatter about hd dvd vs blu ray, et al, it seems to be mostly about available titles and cost of players. from my pov, and i would suppose many of this forums, what matters is delivering hd material, and so burners would seem to be more important in this instance.

i do realise that the player availability / price factor is important - no good providing hd dvd's if no one is buying hd dvd players, but having a couple of $50 good quality burners in my pc means i can quickly, and CHEAPLY, knock out approval copies, complimentary, etc., with the cost of any hd burner, not to mention blank media being so expensive, i guess it will be some time before hd becomes our default release of choice?

I agree. But the number of people who are looking at this from a burner aspect is quite small relative to people who want to buy and watch movies. This is where the money is. In other words we in the editing field don't account for too much.
