OT: Firewire repeaters

I need to run firewire from a camcorder to record into Capture. I know I will need the extended distance firewire cable (> 150 ft). My question is, can I put a DV repeater on one of these to get >300 ft. distance?

For firewire I believe a repeater is needed every 14 ft. or so. That is what is recommended anyway. I think you can get away with longer distances.

I'm really trying to go a few hundred feet though. Has anyone tried those 164ft firewire cables? I'm wondering if a repeater would work on those also.
