someone, somewhere made reference to a really neat dock for naked ide hd's. i've found sata ones, but no ide (got dozens of them lying around). anyone recall the make / model.
I'm in the same boat, I thought it was Thermaltake but can't find anything on their site.
I can't even buy the old RH58 IDE draws anymore.
Hardly seems worth the worry though, today I bought 4 250GB SATA II Samsung HDDs for $38 each inc GST. I've found an internal SATA caddy thing that doesn't need a draw so I guess I'll just go naked SATA from now on.
Well, this isn't a dock, but it works great for bare drives. It's a USB 2.0 to IDE & SATA adapter. It works with 2.5" and 3.5" IDE drives, 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives and 5.25" CD/DVD/Blu-ray drives.
Thanks John,
except it looks like New Egg will not ship to down here and I can't find it locally. All is not lost, PC Connection will ship OS, I've bought stuff from them before, even things they're not supposed to ship OS, just took a phone call.
USB 2.0 to IDE
I have a USB to IDE adapter... unfortunately, the power supply isn't powerful enough for my hard drive so I have to power the drive off the PSU in the computer. This might be something to watch out for. (Though chances are, the power supply bundled with that adapter will be powerful enough.) Perhaps something to watch out for.
