OT: Good floor standing speakers

VMP wrote on 11/16/2005, 9:14 AM
Hi, I am looking for one good set of Floor standing speakers.
With atleast Dual 10 inch woofers.

I heard good things about the JBL E100.
The price range from the E100 is actually what I am looking for.

Do you pros know maybe a better model/make for the same price range ?
Or is the JBL the good stuff ;-))??

Thanks for any reply,
V

What do you want to use them for?

listening to music/ and as 'front left' and 'right' for movies.

Edit:
And I love the size of it! (its like a big tower) I have seen it yesterday.
So it is also to 'show of' a bit ;-))

If your on the high end of things check the Klipsch forum at klipsch.com.
You might want to have 3 strong friends to help put the speakers in place.

I would definitly check some Tannoy Dual concentric models for that. Outstanding coherence and image.

The Athena Technologies speakers IMO are the best sounding speakers for the least cost. Best Buy often has specials on them.
For Front speakers I would recommend the AS-F1.

You may have difficulty finding an AS-F1, but the AS-F2.2 is rated even higher. I bought my Athena surrounds and Center Channel from Audio Advisor. They were a great bunch to deal with. I built my own Front speakers and modified an Audiosource SW-15 15" powered subwoofer to improve the wall rattling sound.

I have a great pair of Kirksaeter speakers. A little (lot) difficult to find but you would not need dual woofers with these. I tested them once and they could blow out a match at 6 inches.

I bought them a number of years ago and recently rebuilt them. Fine German quality and I have not heard anything as good except the truly high end stuff.

I love my Paradigm Monitor 3's... alot!
Paradigm's stuff is very well reviewed. Made in Canada to boot.
