OT: Good Karma – My World Cruise Videos

Recently got back from a World Cruise. Four months of travel. Shot 30 hours of tape and probably 5000 + stills. One of our side trips was to Bhutan where we really learned about karma. For those of you who want to gather some good karma for the next life, I am pleased to invite your critical remarks of my World Cruise Vegas Videos. (It's a lot to ask, I know) Yes. They are “home videos” completely edited with Sony Vegas! So we are not totally off topic here. I’m posting to Google and keeping them private. Let the karma begin:

I watched the videos. I think you should stabilize the walking footage as it would give it a more majestic look. Do some color correction on the indoor shots with the captain, Also I assume that after 30 hours you would have some really good stuff. The video quality wasn't good so it is hard for me to comment but some of the ship footage has to be great. Maybe a little more style to the footage would be good. Some fades, PIP, slo-mo, etc. Some of the stills looked good but it was hard to tell because of the google quality. Also a map with the dotted line of travel is cool, I always liked them, something like that is useful to orient the viewer as to where you are during the trip.

Thanks soooo much for the reply. Regards the bad color etc. (Google makes it worse too) some of this was shot on my handy little Casio Z750 which is a pocket size still camera. . Maybe I can find a standard color correction and keep that stuff on a seperate video track rather than the event-by-event correction.

I think you should stabilize the walking footage as it would give it a more majestic look Do you mean in the editing use something like "Deshaker" ? I tried "Deshaker" in the past with varied results. The shooting, at this point, is what it is -- no sticks - hand held, some times with a drink in the other hand.

More style....Some fades, PIP, slo-mo, etc.......map with dotted line of travel .. .
Yeah. I could add PIP, split screen etc...but where? Surely not just to do it.
I'll work on the map idea. That's an old chestnut but it works. THANKS!
