OT: Halo in video but not in still

kinda off topic but i figure one of you guys can diagnose this.

new canon t5i. using a polarizer for the firat time, getting really good results in stills. tried it in video mode, same exposure, iso, shutter 1/60, same position of the polarizer. 1920x1080 30p. i get a halo in the center of the frame.

(still from the mp4)

is this from the polarizer or is it something else?

i also just loaded the alpha version of magic lantern on the T5i. could be related, but i doubt it...

Was the pic taken in RAW? Same picture profile?

yes. RAW, same profile (cinestyle).

If it was taken in Raw, it has a lot more range captured and the camera could be doing something to bring the levels down for display. What app did you use to open and cut out your samples? It seems like an exposure thing and not related to the CPL, but I'm just speculating. It seems like the one in the still has nice, even exposure, so I wouldn't think it has any reason to blow out in the video. Kinda weird.

turns out it was from magic lantern. seems i had inadvertently turned on "vignetting" in one of the settings.

been a while since i looked at ML, i have the stable 2.3 on my T2i, and this new version has many more features including RAW video, all of which i shall explore!
