According to this reviewer, HD-DVD is nothing to get excited about, and has some problems such as a very long load time. He says the improvement is no big deal unless viewing on a large display, and is not comparable to the jump in quality going from VHS to DVD a decade ago.
BluRay and HD-DVD could turn out to be flops; at this point it looks that way to me. But then I have a bias--please, somebody, just give me a DVD standard that allows for WMV or 264 decoders and I'll be happy.
