audacity (do a web search) - it's free. Your friend might find it a bit tricky, but it only takes a few minutes to learn the basics.

SONY Audio Studio is only $69.95. It does all the basics that Sound Forge covers and quite a few advanced features as well. You'll only get track-at-once burning, but this should be sufficient.

Have you upgraded Sound Forge? Do you still have an older version lying around? You can give her an older version and SONY will grant her a new serial number of her own.

THanks guys.. I was acutally thinking about that last night CHien. That was I can also help her over the phone if she gets stuck on something. I have MANY older versions of soundforge and Vegas. Since she's not doing multi tracking i guess SF would be easier.
