OT: Invitation to all Vegas users

Jay Gladwell wrote on 2/13/2004, 6:44 AM
Grazie mentioned in another thread that sometimes it's nice just to chat with someone. I agree with him whole-heartedly. Sometimes, editing can be a lonely job. It's nice to be able to bounce ideas off one another in "real time."

For anyone who would like to "chat" with anyone else, I've made available a chat room at my web site. All I ask is that we behave ourselves. The rules are simple; there are only two. 1) No profanity (anyone smart enough to buy Vegas is intelligent enough to communicate his thoughts or feelings without resorting to profanity); 2) no assaults on anyone's character. If these two simple rules can't be followed, I'll be forced to shut it down.

Unfortunately, registration is required. The information is kept private. You can only access the chat room with the following link:

Once there, bookmark the location because there is no way to access it from the site itself.

Hope this will be helpful and/or enjoyable for anyone interested.

We seem to have killed your website. Been happily chatting along and now I get:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (61) in /home/gooddogp/.panel/web/chat/mychat/lib/database/mysql.lib.php3 on line 26

Yeah, I got the same thing, Ed. Only heaven knows what's happening. Although I see that my e-mail is having problems, too. Must be a server issue. Thanks!

Will look into it...

As Ed and I were chatting, the issue came up briefly of finding someone there. I guess if you want to chat with someone specifically, you'll have to e-mail them first and ask them to meet you there.

Darryl Grob got away before I could ask him, but he had an idea of having "regular meetings" in the chat room. Set up and day and time to meet as a group every month or whatever? What do you think?

Just tried it out. After living Vegas in slomo all this time, kind of intimidating to actually be "live." Whew, I'm a nervous wreck. All I need now is to log on from a Starbucks with 4-5 shots of caffein. Fun! I'll be going back. DGrob

Love It! - Great idea Grobsie! - I'm there . . where's the online diary?

A common known meeting time would probably be the best option. Once a week, once a month - who knows what timeframe would be best.

Since I only work 24/7 and have a 5-year-old daughter and am up to my ears in snow and can't type real gud, I'm probably the most flexible of ya'll. Let's see. Grazie's in UK, I'm in Colorado - I like the idea of a commonly known schedule - can't wait to see this thing in action - my "knickers are in a twist" - see, I'm thinkin' real time already! DGrob

If everything works out like I hope it will, we'll have a "guest," one of our regular members here, discuss how how posted his lastest video, maybe one evening next week. That was the basis for the chat room.

Please, stay tuned!

Jay - a request .... when you have a guest host scheduled, could you please broadcast the time as GMT, then we'll all know where we are!

Cheers, and well done - a Vegas chat room promises to be fun fun fun .... and of course, very informative.
