If you wait until you are 3-4 feet above ground and quickly step down you can land safely no matter how high you started. I saw Bugs Bunny do it once.

I think all things accelerate at same speed and hit the ground at the same time, no matter how heavy they are. Exception would be something like a feather or paper and obviously a parachute because drag becomes a factor. But cars, humans or a small cameras would fall at pretty much the same speed.

You think right only in a vacuum. Air resistance is more significant. It's why a mouse could survive a fall off the Burj Khalifa, but an elephant would have no chance. Theoretically. Reasonable summary here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081206062724AAIufVG.
