OT. just got new vixia camcorder

I finally sprung for an HD camcorder. I had to go on the lower end price wise and a generation back maybe. I got the Canon Vixia HF M40. Anybody else have this camera? Any advice, caveats or gotchas that you can tell me about?

"Any advice, caveats or gotchas that you can tell me about?."Congrats on you new purchase. I haven't used the Canon HF M40, but I have a (similar) Canon HG21 - and like it a lot. Canon makes good stuff.

While I don't have any specific advice, if your destination is the Web, you might (re)familiarize yourself with the following tutorial.

My daughter has the HF 30 - very nice image IMHO. You should be pleased with the camera.

when I get something worth posting I will let you know. Right now my main subject is my dog. :)

I like it so far. I miss a viewfinder, but I guess you get used to that.

I consdered the HF30 as well, but one of the consistent comments about the M40 was the low light level quality.

I am not sure how to deal with sunlilght yet. I might make a little shade thing to attach to it.

How do you guys handle that?
