OT - klite pack Safe?

I'm trying to do some work with Fusion, but it doesn't like m2ts files. I'm told it work if lav decoder is used from klite pack. I'm currently opening the file in Vegas and rendering it via CineForm and taking it to Fusion. Since it's eventually coming back to Vegas, I'd rather not screw it the more times than necessary. To make a long story short, is the Klite codec pack safe or could they potentially cause problems.

There are better ways to get lavcodec than in a codec pack.

Why not stay with a cineform DI? Far better than working with m2ts. Of course you haven't stated your workflow, so the obvious path of using HDLink to convert all files to avi DI prior to editing etc might not suit.

Codec packs are, in general, a horrible idea. Just get the specific codec you want. A generic pack includes a bunch of stuff that can break things and you don't want to install a pack now only to realize in a month that it overwrote another codec that worked great & now doesn't work, or worse.

But from a virus/computer security standpoint, they are, in general, safe.

I have some clips that I need to work on with Fusion or Mocha Pro and then bring to Vegas. Don't want to have to render in Vegas just to send to Fusion and render again to go back to Vegas. This because I can't import m2ts straight into Fusion.

However, since I started this post I've found that I can rewrap the m2ts as a mov file using memcoder. I will use CineForm to return to Vegas.
