You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good-bye.
Teach your children well,
Their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks, the one you'll know by.
Get used to wearing shirts with tropical themes on them, and shoes with no socks, sandles or flipflops preferred. I still have plenty of 'Hawiian/Florida' shirts around.
Oh, and get used to seeing lots of good looking scantily clad women at the beach. Remember Don Johnson (Miami Vice) said when he was in FL, he wasn't married. Got him in a LOT of trouble though.
Oh, and get used to great fishing if you go over to Everglades city, not far from you.
LIfe is really gonna suck for you down there. hehehe
Yeah got me some new sandles today. Wife and the kids are going to go down with me so I get some extra time with my kids plus she has her sister in Orlando to visit on the way home. I saw the 10 day forecast. 80 or higher with sunny skies, 10% chance of rain. Sure beats Kentucky weather. Sucks though, just picked up beanies at walmart for $1.00 clearence. Other than clothes and computers, I cant believe just how much media (DVDs, software, CDs) I have. That in itself would take a trip to get it all down there (1000+ DVDs, another 400 recorded from cable, then my audio from the DJ days.)
I just cant wait until my toes hit the sand and ten pray like hell we dont have more canes tear up the gulf coast again. Just my luck lol.
I just hope I transition well for teaching. I am sure I will be overwhelmed at first and wont be totally adjusted until next school year but at least I get to teach fun subjects. Probably have to find a summer job to keep the cash flow coming but thats ok. I just hope I can find a long term place for my family by the start of the next school year as that will be the hardest part in not seeing them everyday after being there every moment since all three were born.
I just hope my kids adjust to Daddy not being there and dont give their Mom too much trouble. She wants to finish this semester up before coming down. Makes sense since she only has 6-7 more weeks and we already paid for her classes.
I wonder just how wild the wildlife is. Would hate to wake up one morning and walk to the car and have a gator jump out at me or some poisonous snake strike me. Either way, God will protect all and provide the right path as always.
Im really looking forward to meeting up with Jay, Vic, and JetDV and others. Hopefully take in Spot's training when they hit Orlando or Miami again.
Best thing is that this script I have been tweaking since Christmas 2004 takes place in a tropical town with beaches so we all know what Ill be working on during the weekends and the summer. Dont think my school has an audio/video club or class so I may try to angle to introduce on next year and make Vegas the center point.
I remember one time when Vic said to stop whining and change things myself. Amazing what happens when I shut up and listen to people and dont let life get me down. Success.
Ahh all words of advice from people who dont live on the gulf coast of FL.
Patrick I remember you used to live down here before so you know it aint like "living on vacation" everyday.
Get used to the Q-tip/snowbirds driving 10-15 mph under the speed limit, the insanity of Sping Break in FT Meyers, tons of traffic on 75 between there and Naple's....
On the bright side the weather has been fantastic the last few weeks today is 76 and perfect. Fishin is good if your into it. And when its not season you can fly down the interstate 75mph + : ) and overall traffic and pace over here is much more relaxed than the east coast of Fl.
Im gonna try and make it to Vic's screening tomorrow night, I'll look for ya.
Eric
LOL. Yeah I remember those days fondly and I remember getting dressed down on this very forum for the use of that name. Maturity sure is a great thing.
Thanks DSE. :) I hope to get my students involved here next school year when I get them to do more multimedia in their cirriculum.
Find a good solid house, hopefully with hurricane shutters ready to go up. Their not fun to install from scratch with the winds picking up.
Not to scare you, I love it in FL (northwest FL). It has been stressful the past couple of years with the hurricanes. At least you have plenty of warning, unlike earthquakes or tornados.
Oh, and check into a drop-top. Gotta have a convertible down here!
Yeah, after going through the canes in 2k4 in Orlando, I am already preparing for this year which they predict to be worse than last year (oh joy.)
A drop top would be awesome but I have always wanted to own a jeep wrangler so Im going to look into one of them and let the wife have the minivan. Not really like I really wan to sport around town or the beach in a minivan anyway lol.
