OT: lighting.soft boxes

I have to replace 3 chimeras, that grew legs with some other stuff and walked off a set.Just the boxes ,still have the lights . Has anyone tried the knockoffs, which are about 1/4 the price? werent listed with our insurance ,ouch.

I've been using a Photoflex Silverdome medium with my Lowel kit for the las t few years and am quite happy with it. They don't have quite as many options as the Chimera line but, at approx. 1/3 of the price, I'm not complaining. One speed ring fits both lights (Tota & Omni), another savings. At the time I bought mine, grids weren't an option but 40° ones are available now. I've been told that Chimera grids will fit if you put the diffusion panel far enough back on the Velcro, which will leave you just enough room for the Grid. BTW, the Photoflex size designation is one up from Chimera. (Photoflex Medium = Chimera Small). HTH.
