How expensive is the gear? I lost a bid for a trade show recently (video to DVD, no webcasting), and anonymously walked about the facility after the conference and I saw a bunch of Mediasite stations. I did get the name of the videographer who got the contract, and determined that he was renting them. From whom, I couldn't determine. There's no way he paid his four videographers for a full day, rented four pro cameras and Mediasite consoles, and made any profit. (The client told me that he was half my bid of $4,000)

I have found cheap stand-alone units starting around $1000. The issue is that you need to use a specific server (Wowza). We are using Live FLASH encoder (free download), and use a hosting company that offers FLASH servers. We can do HD quality, but it is rare that the intended audience has the bandwidth.
This is a basic system (and rather cheap), we also have used NewTek's tricaster, but it basically uses the same live encoder, and Wirecast, but it has some issues syncing the audio and video.
Hope that helps a bit....

Classified ad for a dealer demo Sonic Foundry Mediasite Live ML Mobile Recorder

New $24,950, but this one can be yours for only $14,995.00.

Choke...

Sounds a bit like the 2 bedroom house for sale in the L.A. times this weekend: "Orig. listed at $25,000,000.00, now reduced to only $14.995,000.00!"

OK, it did have 5.5 bathrooms to go with the 2 bedrooms...
