OT: Looking for a certain video...

I know this is way off topic but I saw a video a while back (year ago or so?) that was either computer generated or claymation- I can't remember which. The video was about a guy/creature who worked at a factory day in and day out and all they made was smiley faced stamped boxes that contained happiness. The workers in the factory would spend their paychecks on the box and the contents thereof. Then one of the workers opened up the "furnace like" door on his stomach and took some light out of it and placed it in some goggles he made and put it on. This allowed him to see in color and become happy. He then made his product and put the other business out of business and it was a big hit as nothing was ever seen as mean or offensive again. When someone yelled at you, they were congratulating you and things like that. But towards the end of the short film, his light that was in his stomach was all used up and he could not be happy anymore.

Anybody got a link to this. I have been searching for a good long while and can't find it. I have searched for smiley, factory, happiness goggles, etc but to no avail.

Thanks for any leads,

j razz

That was definately worth a watch, why is it that some of the most provocative works are animation. A lot of amazing animation came out of Prague decades ago, Dimensions Of Dialogue (Jan Svankmajer), particularly part three, which is claymation is both brilliant and disturbing. No doubt the work of a troubled mind.

I ran across this several times and every time I saw it, it impacted me. I have always enjoyed things that make you think about more than just what is being portrayed on the surface.

Bob, do you have a link to the Dimensions of Dialogue collection?

Here you go:

Unfortunately no clips of part 3, only some stills but a good description.

There was a BBC doco shown down here that covered the work of many animators in Prague, that one in particular really stuck in my brain and another one that seemed to use claymation and live animals. Some (maybe all) of the works were kind of Kafka and Dali rolled into one.
