OT: lost partition

I tried using partition magic to resize my main 40 GB hardrive (C and E) because C was full. C: (7GB) was the system drive and E: (30GB) was all my applications. During the restart and resizing, it locked up. Now all I have is my original 7GB partition. PM calls the remaining 30 GB PqRP, but it does not show up on my computer at all. Any I deas how to recover this? Even If I can't recover, how do I get my computer to even recognize the 30 GB partition?

I know on my system, if you open Partition Magic (not sure what version you're using, look and see if on Disk X (C, E, whatever), see if you can even see the partition.

If so, try right-clicking, check for errors. It may offer the opportunity to repair it.

Any time you get a lock up during a partition evolution, you may be out of luck.

If it doesn't show up at all in Partition Magic, I don't know what else to tell you.

(Suggestion: Drive Image (Also by Power Quest) is an extremely valuable tool. If you had this and had backed up the partitions, you could be back up and running within 30 minbutes...but I know that *now* is not a good time to hear that..)

re-installing my applications is not *that* bad, but first I need to be able even access the partition. I can posibly format it and start over, but first I would like to see if anyone knows of any possible recovery

I'm not sure about recovery (when I loose a drive it's gooooooone). But, if Partition magic can't do much with it, Microsoft fdisk sometimes works. Also, i've had luck with using linux partition tools finding a lost partition that Windows and fdisk couldn't find.

If you can't see it in Windows, i hink you're SOL. Sorry.

You can try a recovery program like stellar (www.stellarinfo.com).
I lost a drive, that window, norton and all other tools could not read - and stellar NTFS recover all my files. It will recover the files, but you will have to reformat the partition afterwards.

You can download the demo version, that will scan your disk and show all recoverable files. In order to recover the data you will need to buy it.
