Well, it's already been called "Black Friday" as 8 countries of the EURO-zone, including France and Austria, have been stripped of their TripleStar rating by Standard & Poors LLC, with Portugal being relegated to "junk" status. Not good.
Interestingly enough, 45 years ago, it was the next day, 14th January, back in 1967 that the then President of France, Charles de Gaulle, vetoed the UK's entree into the "family" of the Common Market - that would become the European Economy or, those that have additionally signed up for the shared currency, the Euro, or Eurozone - ironic.
We, in the UK, didn't choose to join that part of the EC, the EURO-zone. However, we could very well experience the fallout and register the seismic ramifications of such a Standard & Pores down grade.
Be interesting to see how SONY are going to price European Euro-centric/sensitive products against those being sold within the UK.
