OT: MEXICO???

xristos wrote on 8/16/2007, 1:27 PM
Hi Guys...I have been desperately looking for a short stock clip of Mexico...preferably and city aerial...I cannot believe that all I can find is on Getty and sadly that clip is around $400...a little rich for me so I was hoping someone else here might have some ideas...

Can't believe none of the regulars have anything significant on Mexico...

I have tried, Artbeats, Time Image, Footagewoks, Iphoto...and the usual outlets..

Thanks in advance,
Stan the Man

Hey Stan, try istockphoto.com they don't have nearly as much video as audio, but they do have a ton of stuff, and it's very reasonable. Getty and BBC are WAY too expensive

Have you looked at Digital Juice - Their VideoTraxx collection is great and they have a special going on for the next hour or so, if you buy one of their five pack or ten pack specials (mix & match stuff for $149 and $249 respectively) they'll let you add on any volume (there are three) of VideoTraxx for $99 (normally $349).

That was an awesome link, Jack...not quite what I wanted but something worth wrapping my head around and very refreshing to see that there indeed is footage of Mexico...

Thanks...

Stan -

If you're having such a hard time finding a video clip, have you thought of just using a still image and Ken Burnsing it?

If you can use Mexican Mayan ruins, I can let you use one of my photos free - Lemme know.

Thanks for the offer Bruce...more specifically what I am looking for is an aerial of Mexico city during the day...There's a basic shot, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, on Getty of a heat mirage over Tijuana which could work because it gives that hot, smogy look I need...It's the $400 that's killing me...

Still hoping.

Thank you for your kind offer.,

Hey Stan,

I Googled "Tinuana Stock Footage" - seems like there are some companies that have shot a lot in Mexico and have archived had have their stuff sold as stock through a broker - or perhaps try some productions houses in So Cal to see if they may have something you can use. It's not aerial, but if you're still in LA, a 2 1/2 hour drive will get you to where you can shoot some of your own - much less than $400 too!

'nother thought is to try some of the travel agencies, see if by chance there is travel footage of Mexico you could use - of course then it's hunting down the owners of that footage...

good luck, man
