OT: MiniDV Cleaners

Should I get a cleaner made by the manufacturer of the tapes or by the manufacturer of the camera? Or does it really matter?

I don't think it matters much, but I've also heard that they should be used sparingly. Some say to use one only when you have an obvious problem in the image (big blocky dropouts).

It doesn't matter about the make of cleaner BUT follow the onstructions carefully and only use when needed as they wear down your camera heads!
