OT: Music Video done in Vegas

Jessariah67 wrote on 4/5/2007, 9:25 PM
Hey all,

I posted several weeks back and wanted to follow-up, as I have completed my first attempt at a music video, done 100% in Vegas with the help of VASST's Celluloid and Red Giant's Misfire. The video was shot on a Canon XL2. You can see the final here.

Enjoy.

Very nicely done, Kevin. The undersample effect is very nice. Good band, as well. I'd like to buy their CD, but can't seem to locate where it can be purchased.

Thanks, Spot

They're currently looking for a deal, and the video is part of their package. I'll keep you posted...

Jess,

When I look at the video as a videographer and editor, from a technical standpoint that video ranks right up there with some of the best.

When I look at it as someone watching a music video in which a band is trying to promote themselves two things come to mind.

1. The band sounds really good, but..........

2. The video is all about the lead singer at the expense of the other band members, a not uncommon fact of life in the music industry that more often than not leads to a band's short life. The other band members are part of the vocals, but I wouldn't recognize them because you barely see them. The only reason I know there is a drummer is because I can HEAR the drums.

John,

I appreciate your feedback. The focus on the lead singer (and subsequent LACK of focus on all others) was deliberate. Not an ego thing, either - just the way they wanted it for internal reasons.

I loved it 2 months ago, and I still love it. Shows great passion! Crisp video skills.

Spot, I was able to find a lot of info on the main players involved by going to the main root url of one of the site:

http://www.lonniepark.com/

from there, I did a Google search on - Johnny and Lonnie Band -.

Several variations of bands of the main band members. "Shadowbox" rang a bell with me somehow.

The band's name is TEN MAN PUSH. Lonnie Park is the head, with his long-time co-hort, John West (Artension, Royal Hunt) partnering on the action. The band is in the initial stages of trying to find a deal. The album they're shopping is really solid. I can tell you - from an inside observer - these guys are going the extra mile on this project. We might be putting out an additional video. Check in on their website for any news.

Thanks again for the feedback. It was a really fun project.

Im not totally down with the actual music however I have good things to say.

For those that dont think lighting makes a difference, the different use of lighting during the first verse was EXCELLENT. It totally added another demension to your shoot. Good editing with excellent lighting angles worked for me. Great job!

Excellent. Band's sound/style reminds me of Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots.

Nice editing job, KH.

"there sporting some nice MULLETS as well LOL "

heh, heh.... Zcus said "mullet."

Great final product... very creepy and manson-like in ways... but without the gender-bending glam.

Jessariah,

Very impressive. You did all of the glows and effects in Vegas?

Did your render the final product (.wmv link) with Vegas as well? How did you get such a great resolution?

I have been having trouble getting such a pristine look when rendering for web playback, although I have to provide a file 8MB or less.

Thanks.

Very Nice.
Having never done a music video I was just wondering, how many hours of taping were involved to end up with the final product?
