OT: My First Child

jrazz wrote on 7/11/2009, 7:52 PM
I wanted to share with you all (my Vegas family) my wife and I's first child- Graysen. :)

It took from around 4pm yesterday to 9.22am this morning to get him to finally come out: I am worn out from aiding my wife during her contractions. She is a trooper though as we had him at home with a midwife and she went natural. There were no complications and she is up and at'em and going strong. Just had to share :)

Fantastic news Jeremy!!
I still remember how I felt when the doctor said to me "it's a girl".
It's been almost 14 years now and the feeling of wonder and awe have never left me so I know you'll enjoy the great times to come.

now, if you thought sitting in front of a buggy program was stressful, just wait for the odd snuffle, or cough, or sneeze to find out what REAL worry is!

Congratulations!

You've got a great many happy years ahead, guiding your newborn son to adulthood. It may be trying at times, but worth every bit of the effort you put into the adventure.

I am worn out from aiding my wife during her contractions.

You must have seen the 'I Love Lucy" episode where Lucy enters the maternity ward carrying two large suitcases, while her husband is right behind her being pushed in a wheelchair, looking totally stressed out...

:O)

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE MIRACLE THAT IS A NEW LIFE!

..and know that there are three stages to a boy's gradual ascent into adulthood:

1. "My dad knows EVERYTHING!"

2. "My dad knows NOTHING!"

3. "My dad always used to say..."

:O)

P.S. Don't ever get persuaded to use washable diapers. Whether you wash off the hourly fluorescent green stuff in your own washing machine or use a diaper service, it is a really really bad idea.

Congratulations Jeremy

A Hugh responsibility that somehow never feels taxing

I was talking to my youngest daughter sometime back about being quick to apologise, myself included
And she looked at me confused and said…...” but Dad you never do anything wrong”

So I have “one” at dad knows everything stage and “one” at Dad you are soooooo DOF let me show you how!

Another congratulatons, Jeremy.

I had four of them, but the first one is especially exciting even though it can get a little confusing at times.

There is always lots of help and lots of good advice from friends and family. I know you are going to like being a father. It's my biggest joy in life - always has been.

Congratulations, Jeremy.

As Mike mentioned earlier for them, it's been 14 years since our daughter was born too.

Treasure your early times. The years will go by in a blur and before you know it, middle school will be upon you - the time when all kids briefly become subhuman! Spend as much time with him as you can, as you will cherish those times, and the payoff will be enormous later.

Congrats!

Our kid is almost two, and we already have more video than we will ever be able to do anything with.

Even though he is so young, we sometimes look at the earlier footage and can't really remember him being exatly like that...so shot shot shot away!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I appreciate it. It has been a blast the past several days just watching him grow and watching me grow in love for him. What an amazing gift from God... I am simply blown away by this little guy.

You must have seen the 'I Love Lucy" episode where Lucy enters the maternity ward carrying two large suitcases, while her husband is right behind her being pushed in a wheelchair, looking totally stressed out...

We had him at home under the care of a midwife, but she was having back labor so for about a good 4 hours I would press with almost all my weight on her back every 2-3 minutes for a good 2 minutes during that portion of the labor. I was worn out after he was delivered. She is doing fine and didn't have a single complication or tear during the process.

I have since added some more pictures to the link somewhere about mid way up this thread if you care to look. And yes, I plan on taking lots of footage and lots of pictures... that is if I an get him away from the grandparents :)
