OT Need a web host where I can swear, not Bluehost

Can I get please get some opinions on a good host for my multiple websites that isn't gonna cost me an arm and a leg? These websites aren't huge (10-20 gigs altogether). I was just smote by the firm hand of the Mormon and am having trouble recovering.

No kidding. My web host, Bluehost, deleted my account with them today because one of my movies had swearing in it. Not kidding at all. When I called them to ask them why, they said, "sir, you do know we are in Utah? We have children that surf the web." I explained to them that these were comedies and there was nothing pornographic enclosed. They didn't care at all. They completely wiped out all the websites I had with them. EVEN MY WEBSITE FOR WEDDING VIDEO which has no connection at all to my comedy website, not even links. EVEN MY FAMILY PHOTOS WEBSITE. Aaaaahhhhh! Sorry to rant but I am really pissed, I mean, this is my biz.

Please help me. I have always used these guys and have not really had to look elsewhere.

lol, that's simultaneously sad and hilarious. I use Red Check Hosting and they have no rules that would conflict with your stuff.

Red Check Hosting

Hope ya had everything on your computer so you can just re-upload!

I would check the TOS agreement you have to see if there are any clauses that prevent you from suing them for breach of contract. I typically am not a sue happy person, but unless you have violated your TOS, they legally cannot remove your website if your account is paid in full.

This might require a lawyer sending them a letter - I know I would tell everyone you know to send them an email saying that they will never recommend them if this is the kind of service one can expect. Web hosting is a dime a dozen these days - Just hope you have your domain names under your control and a full backup of all your sites and databases if they are DB driven.

Under terms of service it states:

"Foul language and profanity in the site content, and in the domain name are prohibited."

Looks like you neglected to read the terms of service.

<edit>

My TOS at StartLogoc states: "Utilize the Services in any manner that might subject STARTLOGIC to unfavorable regulatory action, subject STARTLOGIC to any liability for any reason, or adversely affect STARTLOGIC's public image, reputation or goodwill, including, without limitation, sending or distributing sexually explicit, hateful, vulgar, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable materials as determined by STARTLOGIC in its sole discretion;"

Maybe that's standard, but few enforce it.

sorry to say, but even though "freedom of speech" is what people claim the internet it, nobody wants you to do anything but G once you start paying.

Here's part of my TOS:
(b) to post or transmit information or communications that, whether explicitly stated, implied, or suggested through use of symbols, are libelous, defamatory, invasive of another person’s privacy, obscene, indecent, pornographic, sadistic, cruel, or racist in content, or of a sexually explicit or graphic nature; or which espouses, promotes or incites bigotry, hatred or racism, or might be legally actionable for any reason, or hurts minors in any way;

As you can see, I, according to the rules, can't even e-mail my wife a naked picture of me. :)

I just went to #Dreamhost on IRC and asked if they allow swearing. I can't tell you on these forums what their response was, but the second word was "Yea".

I ended up going with Startlogic. Good price and they told me that as long as I wasn't penetrating or ejaculating, I was good to go. Strict policy they say.

Ahhhh, that was actually a really fun call.

Thx for helping me in a pinch.
