OT: Need answers, PS3

I'm really torn right now. No sense continuing with HD DVD and the lack of a player is really starting to hold up production. I would love to wait for the BD50 but it won't be out until at least April and it's sure to have a price tag of at least $550.

So, I just want to make sure the PS3 can do the following before I buy:

1) Play DL dvd m2t disks?
2) Play DL dvd avchd disks?
3) Play BD-r?

I don't think the Harmony remote issue is TOO serious. I've done some research on that and if I am correct, the PS3 does seem to have a ir blaster connect to it so you can use the harmony in combination with the PS2 commands to gain some form of rough control.

The weak audio is admittedly a hard pill to swallow, but I guess I'll get over it.

blink,

1) Yes.
You just put .M2T file into the VIDEO folder and burn to DL DVD. PS3 will automatically find that file.

2) Yes.

3) I didn't try BD-R yet, but my PS3 plays BD-RE perfectly. Authored with Ulead DVD MF6+ with HD pack.

BTW,
Check out my guide on how to author MPEG-2 video as AVCHD disk on DVD5/9:

Thanks for the info and the guide MozartMan.... you're a gent and a scholar.

I think I'll grab a PS3 tomorrow or Monday and get the production line going once again.

BD-R tested on Vegas today. Burned one with Ulead and one with Adobe Premiere Elements 6. Both worked wonderfully, but with the Adobe one the menus looked like chit. For some reasons all the menus were SD, don't know why. Maybe I just didn't chose the right menus :-)
