OT: Need Help With Canopus ADVC-100

My Dell Inspiron 9100 has suddenly dedcided it doesn'y want to recognize my Canopus AVDC-100. It readily locks on to all other firewire input devices (camera, etc.). All cables have been tested OK. I have two of the Canopus devices and both exhibit the same problem on the laptop, but work perfectly on other systems.

I've tried an external firewire cardbus that I know works, still to no avail. The problem is obviously with the computer settings, but I can't seem to track it down.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hve you checked the DIP switches on the bottom of the ADVC to be sure it's set to the NTSC system....and for DV pass?

All dips at factory settings.

Eureka!

I just found a website that solved the problem. It seems that the problem is particular to DELL computers. I swapped out the drivers according to the instructions and now the ADVC-100 works solid as a rock!

Anyone with a DELL may want to take a look at this site.
